The TI Connect software is on the TI Resource CD that most likely came with your TI-83 Plus calculator. However, the version on this CD may not be current. The following steps tell you how to download the current version of TI Connect from the Texas Instruments website, as it existed at the time this book was published:

  1. Go to the Texas Instruments website.

  2. Click support at the top of the screen.

  3. Click latest apps, software & operating system.

  4. Click TI Connect.

  5. Click downloads in the column to the left of the page.

  6. Click the type of computer you use, Windows or Macintosh.

  7. Click the FTP version of TI Connect.

  8. Follow the directions given during the downloading process. Make a note of the directory in which you save the download file.

After you accept the License Agreement, you may be asked to log in. If you’re not a member of the site, sign up — it’s free.

After you’ve downloaded TI Connect, you install it by double-clicking the downloaded TI Connect file you saved in your computer. Then follow the directions given by the installation program you just launched.

The 5.1.1 version of TI Connect CE for Mac is provided as a free download on our website. This free Mac application is an intellectual property of Randall Brown. The program belongs to System Tools. Take advantage of identical handheld functionality on the computer with TI-Nspire™ CX Student Software or TI-Nspire™ CX CAS Student Software. In addition to transferring files between the graphing calculator, and computer and updating the handheld's OS, you can create documents, import images., format assignments and much more.

After you start the TI Connect program, you see the many subprograms it contains. To see what these subprograms are used for, click the HELP button in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Each of the subprograms housed in TI Connect have excellent Help menus that tell you exactly how to use the program.

TI Connect is an application available from Texas Instruments (TI) that allows users to transfer files between a TI graphing calculator and a computer via a link cable. While all models that are capable of linking are supported with the macOS version of TI-Connect, the TI-82 and TI-85 are not currently supported with the Windows version.

Windows

TI Connect is the successor of the TI-Graph Link software and contains similar functionality. Even though TI Connect was released 6 years after Windows 95 came out, this was TI’s first attempt to move out of the 16-bit software paradigm made prevalent in Windows 3.1. One feature which TI Connect did not retain from TI-Graph Link was the ability to edit TI-BASIC on a computer, but unlike TI-Graph Link, does not require a software version specific to each calculator.

Many slowdowns are experienced with the software, usually resulting from the slow USB connection between the computer and calculator. Unexplained errors sometimes occur with the software, preventing users from transferring programs over. One solution is to use the TI SendTo sub-application, which is more stable than the Device Explorer.[1]

Like Reds, the feel is light and the click is quiet when you press down on a cap. The travel distance is about a millimeter shorter than Reds, and a shorter actuation point means that the keys register faster for typing than the comparable Reds. The lack of backlighting pays off in the battery compartment, as we’ll note in a moment, but it’s always better to have the option to turn it on or off than it is to lack it altogether.Like Logitech’s other keyboards, the G613 doesn’t use Cherry switches; instead, Logitech has developed their own mechanical switch called Romer-G switches, something we’d describe as a cross between Cherry MX Red and Brown switches in terms of feel.
